Terms of use

Agreement and scope

These Terms of Use govern your use of Terrier Plan (the “Planner”). Creating an account or choosing to continue with a sign-in method after seeing the terms notice indicates your agreement to these Terms. Please read them and the Privacy Policy before proceeding. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

The Planner is an independently developed course-planning tool. It is not an official Boston University website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Boston University. University names, course identifiers and marks identify their respective institutions; their appearance does not establish an endorsement. The maintainer can be contacted at terrier-plan-support.sprung163@slmail.me.

Users who need a guardian's permission

This service is intended for university course planning. If applicable rules require a parent or guardian's permission to enter an agreement or provide information, obtain that permission before using the service. The Planner does not verify the age of every user. A parent or guardian with concerns may contact the maintainer.

Accounts and your responsibilities

Provide information you are entitled to use, maintain a secure and distinct password, and protect access to your devices and API keys. Use your own account and do not impersonate another person or access another user's records. Do not enter your BU Portal password, Duo code or unrelated sensitive information. The Planner does not require university credentials.

Your saved plan and preferences are associated with your Planner account. Review changes before applying and saving them, keep copies of information important to you, and sign out on shared devices. Browser backups can remain on a device after sign-out. Google controls Google account credentials; the Planner controls its own account and plan records.

Planning information and official decisions

The Planner organizes courses, projects degree and Hub progress, checks modeled constraints, and proposes possible schedules. It does not enroll you in courses, modify official student records, issue transfer-credit decisions, or certify graduation eligibility. Degree requirements, prerequisites, course offerings, seat availability, meeting times and institutional policies can change or be incomplete in the Planner.

Confirm consequential decisions against the current BU catalog, official registration system and the appropriate academic advisor or department. A green audit, suggested replacement or feasible schedule is a planning result based on the information available, not a university approval. Only the university can determine which credits and courses satisfy your actual requirements.

Degree requirements, Hub and outside credits

The audit depends on the degree, minor, catalog rules, course identifiers, units and statuses in your plan. Missing, outdated or incorrectly entered information can change the result. Requirements that are not yet modeled, departmental exceptions and individualized advisor decisions may not appear. A projected completion count is not an official degree audit.

One course can serve several eligible requirements only where the applicable university rules permit that allocation. The Planner may assign a course to one requirement rather than another, and removing it can reduce more than one kind of progress. Check the complete plan after a replacement, including remaining Hub units, required courses, electives, prerequisites and graduation credits.

AP awards, transfer courses, summer courses outside BU and study-abroad work require the university’s applicable recognition and approval. A placeholder, an estimated credit conversion or a planned outside course does not establish equivalency, Hub approval, a particular course level or minor eligibility. Pending-credit projections must be distinguished from approved work. Obtain required approvals before committing money or enrollment elsewhere.

Previews, saved plans and browser drafts

Recommendations and automatic arrangements are proposed plans. Review the actual courses, sections, units, campuses and semesters in the preview before applying it. Applying a preview updates the working plan; saving is a separate persistence step where the interface provides one. A text response saying a change is suitable does not itself change university records.

Keep a separate copy of important planning information. Unsaved drafts can depend on the browser, device, account and website address. Moving between hostnames, clearing storage, signing out or using another browser may not carry a draft with you. A saved account plan and a local unsaved draft are different records; do not assume that every displayed change has been saved.

If a save conflicts with a newer revision, review the available record before retrying. Replacing a plan, moving a course or discarding a draft can change your own working information. The Planner does not promise a complete undo history, a particular backup schedule or recovery of every deleted or unsaved item.

AI assistance and external services

AI assistance can misunderstand a request or provide inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable information. Evaluate its course recommendations and the resulting effects on prerequisites, Hub coverage, degree progress, workload and timing. Proposed plan changes require your review and confirmation; an AI response is not professional or university advice.

Submitting an AI request sends relevant plan information and recent conversation to the selected provider, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Personal API choices include DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter. Provider and model availability can change. Review the separate API authorization, charges and limits section before connecting a key. A model listing is not a guarantee of tool support or suitable recommendations.

Any Cloudflare free allowance offered through the Planner is a shared website allowance, not a separate entitlement for each user. Availability and remaining capacity are not guaranteed. You are not required to submit AI requests to use the ordinary planning tools. External API use is also subject to the selected provider’s applicable terms: DeepSeek、OpenAI、Google Gemini、Groq、OpenRouter.

Personal API authorization, charges and limits

Connecting an API key authorizes the Planner to send your requested assistant operations to that provider using your key. Use a key you are entitled to use and follow the provider’s account rules. The key is stored encrypted for your account and is not displayed back as plain text. Do not place a key in a chat message, course note, shared screenshot or support email.

Chat uses your selected personal API. Degree setup and course recommendations use shared Cloudflare AI by default. If the shared free allowance is unavailable, the system planning algorithm is used automatically; you can also choose the algorithm directly. “Powered by Nemotron” identifies the integrated planning service, not a guarantee that each request uses model inference. Both routes are checked against the available course and degree evidence, and neither guarantees university approval. These shared operations never charge your personal API. Automatic model matching reads the provider’s model inventory; it is not a paid test conversation or a guarantee of model quality. Advanced model choices must support the required request format and tools.

Personal provider charges, taxes, balances, subscription conditions and refunds are handled between you and that provider. The Planner does not sell those credits or receive the provider payment details. Read the provider’s prices and set any available spending controls. A planning question can require several model requests and tool rounds; cancelling after a request starts cannot guarantee that the provider records no usage.

Cloudflare is the website’s shared AI service. Its daily allowance can be consumed by other users and is renewed according to the provider’s schedule. The Planner can apply its own request limits and may decline a shared AI request when capacity is unavailable. It does not promise unlimited free hosted inference. Gemini, Groq and OpenRouter may offer limited free plans through your own provider account; those are not additional unlimited site-wide services. The current OpenRouter integration restricts model routing to free models.

Course data, schedules and professor reviews

Public course descriptions, prerequisites, Hub labels and published sections can come from different university pages or update cycles. A future-term estimate based on recurring Fall or Spring information is different from a section published for that exact semester. Confirm official offerings, enrollment eligibility, locations, time zones and section combinations when registration opens.

Difficulty and workload estimates, career-fit summaries and professor-review scores are planning aids. They are not promises about exams, grades, teaching quality or the effort you will need. Third-party reviews can be subjective, outdated or based on a small number of responses. Similar instructor names can require manual verification; a match or score shown here is not a university endorsement.

Official English source descriptions and translated or summarized text should be distinguished. Check the original source where wording matters, and report missing or conflicting information. Links may change, and the Planner cannot ensure that a third-party page remains accessible. Your use of an external website is subject to that website’s rules.

Your information and public source material

You retain your rights in the information you enter. You permit the maintainer and necessary service providers to store, process and display it to provide, secure and support the functions you request, within the practices described in the Privacy Policy. This permission does not make your private plan public or give unrelated users access to it.

Course descriptions, university materials and professor reviews may belong to their respective authors or services. Source links and planning summaries do not transfer ownership or guarantee the source's accuracy. Respect source-specific terms and rights. Do not publish another person's private information or submit material you have no right to provide.

Acceptable use

Use the Planner lawfully and for legitimate planning. Do not bypass account isolation or limits, probe for secrets, distribute malware, manipulate shared catalog data without authorization, overload the service, or use another person's credentials. Do not use the Planner to make official admissions, disciplinary or other institutional decisions about someone else.

We may restrict an account or request when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users or service integrity, or meet applicable requirements. Where practical, we will explain the issue and provide a way to contact us. This does not create a promise of uninterrupted access.

Availability, changes and ending use

The Planner may be updated, interrupted, limited or discontinued. Data imports, calculations and external integrations may fail or become unavailable. We do not promise that a particular course, model, feature or free allowance will remain available. Material changes to these Terms will be dated and communicated or presented for acceptance when required.

You may stop using the service and request account or data deletion at the contact address below. Account deletion currently requires contacting the maintainer; there is no automatic self-service deletion control. Clearing browser storage or removing a course does not delete the server account. Privacy requests and justified retention are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Limitations and applicable rights

The Planner is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, no guarantee is made of uninterrupted operation, error-free calculations, suitability for a particular academic outcome, or accuracy of third-party or AI information. The maintainer is not responsible for university decisions or changes to official requirements or offerings.

Do not rely solely on this tool for an enrollment or graduation decision. These Terms do not exclude liability or waive rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or waived. They do not impose mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or a specific court or governing law not otherwise applicable to you.

Questions, reports and disputes

Contact the maintainer if you believe an account restriction, a data error or a proposed course change is incorrect. Explain the issue, relevant course or account identifier and the outcome you seek. Share only the information needed to investigate; do not send passwords, API keys, authentication codes or unrelated sensitive records.

If you believe published material violates your rights, identify the material, its location, the rights involved and a reliable way to contact you. We may seek enough information to assess the report and take proportionate action. A report is not itself proof that the reported material or user is unlawful.

We encourage direct discussion to resolve an issue, without making that contact a mandatory waiting period or a waiver of legal remedies. These Terms do not require private arbitration, waive class proceedings or prevent access to courts, regulators or other remedies that applicable law provides.

Interpretation, notices and applicable rights

These Terms describe use of this Planner; the Privacy Policy describes its information practices, and a selected external provider’s terms govern its own service. A source link does not make that company a party to your Planner account agreement. No university affiliation, agency, advisory relationship or guarantee of an academic outcome is created by using the tool.

If a provision cannot lawfully apply to you, it is limited or separated only to the extent necessary; other lawful provisions remain relevant. A delay in addressing an issue does not automatically waive a right. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer, privacy or other protections, or excludes responsibility that the applicable law does not permit to be excluded.

Important service or terms changes may be presented on the website and dated. When applicable rules require renewed consent, it must be obtained rather than inferred solely from an old version. Review the version shown when you create an account or use a changed feature. We do not promise personal email notice of every ordinary design or catalog update.

English and Chinese versions are intended to have the same meaning. Translated interface wording and source translations can still contain errors; please contact us about an inconsistency. These Terms do not declare that one language automatically overrides mandatory rules applicable to you. No particular court, governing law or arbitrary fixed damages cap is imposed by this text.
